Meet Tech: 12 Chrysler Service Reference Books, 1948-1950

$135.00

Meet Tech, Chrysler’s know-it-all explainer.

Every month after the war, Chrysler mailed these booklets to Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler dealer service departments through its Master Technicians Service Conference. Each issue turned carburetors, circuits and cooling systems into cartoons. The star is Tech, a wooden mascot who always knew better than everyone in the shop.

They were serialized like comics, with volume and issue numbers, a recurring hero, and “Watch for next month’s picture, fellas!” teasers on the back covers. This is 1948-era explainer art at its most charming, and early corporate visual storytelling at its best.

This collection holds 12 different issues from the program’s first three years (Vol. 1-3, 1948-1950). It’s a curated group, not a complete run. Each booklet measures about 4 ¾ x 6 ¾ in (12 × 17 cm). Restorers take note: the back cover of Off to a Good Start carries a starting-motor and battery spec chart for 1940s Plymouth, Dodge, DeSoto and Chrysler models (P11-P15, D22-D24, S10-S11, C34-C38).

Included:

All in a Day’s Work! (Vol. 3, No. 10, 1950)

Fixin’ Facts (Vol. 3, No. 11, 1950)

Condition: Age-toned overall. Fuel Economy Through Planned Driving has heavy staining, and Facts About Volts, Amps and Ohms has a water mark on the cover. All pages are present, staples are secure, and there is no writing or dealer stamps. Several booklets have light rust at the staples, confined to the staple points themselves, and the back of Fixin’ Facts has minor surface scuffing. Please see the photos.
